What is a Primo Grill?
Made in Norcross, Georgia, Primo® Grills and Smokers are remarkable products that make outdoor cooking better than ever. Whether it’s poultry, meat, fish, or vegetables, Primo's® unique design guarantees that food is always moist and tender. Primo is both a grill, oven and a smoker. The term kamado means oven, stove, heater, or fireplace and comes from the Japanese method of cooking in ceramic ovens. Ceramic Cooking has been practiced in Asian countries for over 3,000 years. It remains a popular cooking method. Ceramic allows food to cook evenly with minimal moisture loss.
Why Does Muss Use the Primo - The short answer is flavor. See how and why below.
- As far as we know, we are the only restaurant in the country using kamado ovens inside their daily operation. Muss has been cooking on a kamado at home for 10 years and Turner for 6 years. In our opinion, there is simply no better way to grill. The proof is in the texture and the flavor.
- Elegant ceramic design that looks good on your deck or patio is made in the USA, is efficient, tough, and imperverious to weather. It also comes with a 20 year warranty
- Temperature of the grill ranges from slow & low to fast and furious and everything in between. It can get up well over 700 degrees. It is an oven, smoker and grill all in one. You can cook brisket, roasted chickens, salmon, pizzas and rib eye steaks. The list is endless.
- You always achieve superior flavor by cooking on hardwood charcoal.
- There is versatility in the design by allowing you to use a firebox divider, drip pan rack and rack extenders
- Very easy to operate. Lighting the grill, temperature control and shutting down are simple.

What is the difference in a primo grill and a regular metal grill?
- A metal grill isn't efficient as it loses heat by radiation
- Sustaining a constant temperature within a metallic grill demands a bigger heat source than a ceramic grill, therefore higher BTU.s are required on a gas grill
- High BTU's can only be achieved by using more gas input. Since fuel (gas/charcoal) can only burn with a sufficient amount of air, your metal grill is now "drying" your food.
- The Primo Ceramic construction allows heat to stay within the grill. A well insulated grill doesn't experience heat and moisture loss. The Primo Grills require very little energy to sustain the desired temperature within the cooking area, therefore there isn't as much air needed to burn fuel (gas or
- Charcoal). Your meat, poultry, fish and vegetables will stay moist and give you their full flavor.
