Ambassadors,

A year ago yesterday we heard from a solid source that the NCAA was likely going to cancel the Final Four in Atlanta which they ended up doing on 3/13/20. Our leadership team huddled up and came up with a plan for hand sanitizer, table distances and stupid hand washing signs etc. On that Friday the 13th we gathered our team together to share the logistical plan but that was equivalent to us sharpening a butter knife for a bazooka fight. All that really mattered at that time was preparing our / their mindset in the present moment not knowing what was ahead. We told the team that there was no amount of hand sanitizer we could put out at this point to impact the trust of our guests, we’ve either earned their trust to this point or we have not and we were about to find out and we would do everything we could to maintain it and strengthen it whatever happens.  And all that matters today is the same. We’ve stayed in the crucible, cared for each other, embraced the suck, endured extreme adversity amidst immense uncertainty but also been exposed to so many silver linings. We’ve kept swinging and our community has stood in our corner the whole time. Without any touching the hugs we’ve felt from you has been real and it will never be forgotten. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Bread For The Head
The Good Life  (watch or listen 15 min)
I watched this the other morning and it was both enlightening and affirming. For years I have shared with folks that at our core we are really in the business of human connection and how wealthy we feel due to the abundance of amazing relationships we’ve gained over the years. That has only been magnified by 10x over the past year. This TedTalk by Dr. Robert Waldinger, Director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development helps explain why we feel that way.

The Harvard Study of Adult Development has closely studied 724 men for over 75 years.
They have distilled the three basic things directly tied to their happiness and health.
All three are within our reach daily.

I hope this wisdom shared by Dr. Waldinger in only 15 minutes impacts you as much as it did me.
